Canyon Roadhouse Overview

Canyon Roadhouse is a quirky, automotive-themed lodge and campsite located in southern Namibia, approximately 14 km (8.7 miles) from the main viewpoints of the Fish River Canyon. Operated by the Gondwana Collection, the property is famous for its "Americana" aesthetic, featuring a collection of vintage classic cars, trucks, and transport memorabilia integrated into its restaurant, bar, and reception. 

Dining & Atmosphere

The main building serves as a visual museum where an old International truck functions as the reception desk and several car cabs are used as fireplaces during winter. 

• Cuisine: The family-friendly restaurant serves African, international, and barbecue-style dishes. Popular specialties include Amarula cheesecake, oryx skewers, and pork ribs.
• Hours: Breakfast is typically served from 07:00–09:00, with lunch available from 11:00–15:00 and dinner from 18:00–20:30.
• The Bar: Known as the "Pompstasie" (filling station) bar, it offers a wide selection of drinks, including local draft beer. 

Accommodation Options

The lodge offers 24 en-suite rooms and a well-maintained campsite. 

• Lodge Rooms: Includes 19 twin rooms (some inter-leading for families), 3 triple rooms, and 1 family room with four beds. All rooms feature air conditioning, heating, tea/coffee facilities, and a private veranda.
• Campsite: Features 12 sites with power points, barbecue facilities, and shared ablution blocks with hot water.
• Rates (2026): For the period ending October 31, 2026, room rates start at approximately N$ 2,512 per person sharing (Bed & Breakfast).

• On-site Services: A fuel station (one of the few in the area), an ATM, tyre repair services, a curio shop, and a cold-water swimming pool.
• Nearby Attractions:
• Fish River Canyon: Guided excursions to major viewpoints depart from the nearby Canyon Lodge (17 km away).
• Scenic Drives: The 4x4 //Garas Self-Drive allows guests to view zebra and wildebeest in the Gondwana Canyon Park.

Sunset Views: A short hiking trail leads to a hill above the lodge for panoramic views of Holoog Mountain.
